A Technology Law Firm for Digital Businesses

Legal Kornet began in 2012 as a solo practice and has since grown into an international legal team advising technology companies, startups and digital platforms. We focus on turning complex legal requirements into practical steps clients can actually use.

Our practice covers blockchain and crypto law, data protection, intellectual property, cross-border business structuring and legal due diligence. We entered crypto legal advisory early and have grown alongside the regulatory landscape, from ICOs to MiCA, GDPR and the AI Act.

From a solo practice to a global tech law firm. Our journey has followed the same path as the digital world we work in, growing alongside the innovators we serve.

2012

The Beginning

The journey began with an independent legal practice founded by Nikita Tepikin, focused on legal consulting for small businesses. Early work included corporate registration, tax law, commercial contracts and legal reviews. This laid the foundation for the firm’s future focus on client-centered, agile legal solutions.
2014

Strategic Focus on Digital Business

With a license from the New York State Unified Court System now in hand, the firm expanded its team and service portfolio. The direction became clear: serve the fast-growing needs of online business, including Fintech, IT, SaaS, eCommerce and startup legal support.
2016

Entering Crypto Law

The firm launched its crypto law practice, advising early-stage ICOs and blockchain startups on legal structuring, token issuance and regulatory compliance. It was one of the first steps into a space that didn’t have established legal playbooks yet, and it shaped much of how the firm still works today.
2018

Data Privacy & IP Certification Achievements

The firm strengthened its expertise in European data protection with a GDPR-focused certification in Data Privacy. That same year, founder Nikita Tepikin was registered as a Patent Attorney and included in the national IP professional registry.
2019

Building a Global Legal Network

The firm built a strong network of international partners and alumni, now spanning over 10 countries. This made it possible to handle cross-border matters and jurisdictional complexity with greater speed and precision.
2020

COVID-19 and the New Legal Reality

The global pandemic changed how the world worked. For Legal Kornet, it confirmed something we already knew: tech law is inherently global. As legal challenges in the IT sector became more cross-border, the firm sharpened its focus on flexible legal solutions for innovative companies worldwide.
2024

Web3, AI, and the Next Digital Shift

Legal Kornet began advising on matters at the intersection of law, AI and decentralized systems, from DAO formation and smart contracts to the legal side of generative AI tools. The firm has been helping clients navigate this shifting landscape, including preparing for the upcoming EU AI Act.
2025

MiCA and the Future of Crypto Regulation

The MiCA Regulation came into force, opening a new phase in EU crypto compliance. Legal Kornet refined and expanded its services to meet MiCA requirements, from crypto service provider registration to token classification and whitepaper review.
